Porabari Union (Bengali:পোড়াবাড়ী ইউনিয়ন) is a union of Tangail Sadar Upazila, Tangail District, Bangladesh. It is situated 7 km southwest of Tangail city.According to Population Census 2011 performed by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, The total population of Porabari union is 21,622.There are 4,897 households in total. The literacy rate of Porabari Union is 39.9% (Male-43.4%, Female-36.5%).

Traditional Bengali Sweet Chomchom Of Tangail
Porabari has been famous for Chomchom since 150 years ago. But very few sweet shops can be seen in Porabari Bazar nowadays. All shops has been transferred to Tangail city.
Chomchom, cham cham, or chum chum (Bengali: চমচম) is a traditional Bengali sweet originated from Porabari, Tangail, Bangladesh. It is a very popular dessert in Bangladesh & India. The cuisine comes in a variety of colors, mainly light pink, light yellow, and white. It is also coated with coconut flakes as agarnish. The sweet is of oval shape and brownish color.
Porabari in Tangail District, Bangladesh, has been famous for Chomchom since 150 years ago. But for last couple of years most Chomchom stores were shifted to Panch Ani Bazar, centre of Tangail city.
Ingredients
The main ingredients are flour, cream, sugar, saffron, lemon juice, and coconut flakes.
